About this recording

Changes in farming highlighted the need to expand and diversify. While flying a kite, along with his young son, James Innes felt inspired to pursue the possibility of erecting wind turbines at his father’s farm at Achairn, Caithness.
James meticulously researched the possibilities and along with his brother Ronald embarked upon a learning journey that brought this dream to fruition. This involved finding out about wind turbine manufacture, links to the National Grid, finance and the transportation route of wind turbines through the town of Wick to the final destination at Achairn. James discusses renewable energy provision by both onshore and offshore windfarms.
His continued interest in wind energy has led to him working for Siemens Gamesa at the Beatrice Offshore Windfarm
He claims that, “With a bit of luck, a lot of hard work and even an element of naivety ….. give it a bit of thought, thin
