About this recording
Listen to Richard Lloyd describe his association with Caithness over many years. In 1943 Richard’s father was stationed in Wick, as a Met Officer in the Royal Air Force and the family lived in Harbour Terrace. In 1944 Richard was born, but sadly his mother died when he was only two weeks old. He goes on to explain that for the first two years of his life he was lovingly looked after by Harbour Master, Captain George Sutherland and his wife Mary, until his family moved to Aberdour in Fife, when his father remarried. Richard recalls idyllic holidays spent in Caithness, playing on Dunnet Sands, fishing and collecting Groatie Buckies. He shares his fond memories of Brough and Wick.
