About this recording

Wick’s Pulteney Centre is the venue for the 2019 annual conference of the Scottish Association of Family History Societies (SAFHS) – an event that will attract genealogy and ancestry enthusiasts from across Scotland and beyond. Caithness Family History Society (CFHS) will mark its 20th anniversary by hosting the Northern Roots event, which combines a formal programme of talks for delegates with a family history fair open to the public.
Ian Leith is vice-chairperson of CFHS and sits on the council of SAFHS. He was instrumental in bringing the conference to Caithness for the first time.
In this recording, Ian sets the scene for the event taking place on Saturday, April 27th. He expresses the hope that it will encourage more people to take an interest in family history and discover the fascinating stories that genealogical research can reveal.
