About this recording
Anne-Marie Mowat reflects upon the enjoyment and pleasure she gained from the fourteen years she spent Highland dancing with the Elise Lyall School of Dance and the subsequent life skills she gained during that time. In addition to travelling the length and breadth of Scotland, attending Highland Games, she talks about two memorable visits to Canada, resulting in friendships being established with many dancers from across Canada.
Anne-Marie recalls many occasions when she performed with the dance school, including dancing at Ackergill Tower and the making of an ‘Over the Ord’ DVD at the Pipe Band Hall in Wick. She talks about her involvement as a dancer attending Wick Gala and the memorable gala of 2002 when she was Gala Queen.
Despite living and working in Edinburgh for the past few years she continues to regard Wick as the place she calls home.
